CTC IN LONDON AND BERLIN

INSPIRING THE WORLD TO EXPLORE CANADA

This year PAINTERTAINNMENT were fortunate enough to travel to London and Berlin with CTC - CANADIAN TOURISM COMMISSION.

2 Seasonal Strolling Dresses were custom made for the two TOURISM TRADE SHOWS - London and then Berlin.

The London event was held in what used to be home to the London Film Museum, just near the LONDON EYE, before moving to Covent Garden. The historic building still contained a number of original props, costumes and sets from feature films, which created a rather sureal but entertaining backdrop to the event.

Next stop Berlin, famed ITBBERLIN Worlds Leading Travel Trade Show, venue Canadian Embassy, where the day prior to the event was spent re-constructing the Strolling Dresses - over 120 screws and bolts. We had one after noon to explore the city, The Brandenburg Gate, Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, Reichstag Building, the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe and a quick walk through Grober Tiergarten, Berlins largest and oldest park.

Evening back at the hotel and wanting something typically Berlin to eat, as the locals. CURRYWURST, was suggested by the Hotel Conciege, a pretty simple but tasty snack that seems to be loved by everyone. We headed down the street to the local train station where we were told a the best CURRYWURST vendor would be.

There we experienced our first German style pork sausage usually bockwurst, deep fried, cut into pieces, and topped with a ketchup-like tomato sauce and curry powder, and usually served with french fries or a bread roll. This combination was invented in 1947 by Herta Heuer, who was influenced by American and British soldiers who loved ketchup and curry powder respectively.

Oh yeah, both events were a huge success
